2011 was an exciting year for CKR! As usual the year started with a wet and cold race at Prairie City and continued with wet, challenging races through the spring season. John Sicley started the year off with a case of dementia and signed up in the Senior A class. After a dominating win he came to his senses and jumped back into the Open A class where he continued his winning ways taking the Open “A” Championship.
As all members of the CKR Team jockeyed for position throughout the season in their respective classes, but it was Robert Brumit who kept a cool head and rode to numerous top 3 finishes in the Senior “A” class, holding a commanding lead going into the summer break. Robert was able to keep his composure through the fall season and took the Senior “A” championship.
Steve Bonita showed his speed and style all year by putting his Husaberg up front and on the podium several times. Steve suffered an injury at the Nevada “Toulon Two Step” but as Steve does, he fought through the pain and held onto to win the Vet “A” championship.
Michael Brumit JR dominated the Spring 250 4 Stroke class and the Fall 250 2 stroke class wrapping up both Championships and earning his yellow plates.
Jakob Mc Coid rode his last year in the youth class and took the championship on the “AA” youth division.
Brandon Roberts took the championship in the “A-85” class and finished 2nd overall in the series. Brandon also traveled to Tennessee and rode the GNCC race at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Brandon put in 2 solid rides and won both his classes and finished in the top 20 overall in both races.
During the summer break Kurt Ashley traveled to Glen Helen Raceway and competed in the 2011 Western States Police and Fire Games. Kurt scored a Gold medal in the MX class and a silver medal in the Cross Country event.
The fall season saw two CKR riders win their first race in the “A” class.
Paul Van Horsen won the Prime Time at Metcalf Cycle Park and Kurt Ashley won the Deer Creek GP @ Frank Raines Cycle Park.
The courses challenged all of us throughout the year and throughout hard crashes, mechanical failures and injuries, the CKR team was able to pull off 7 class championships, 3 second’s, 2 third’s, 1 fourth, 2 fifth’s and a ninth place class finishes. To top this off 5 of the top 20 red plates go to CKR riders.

Rider of the Year:
Cody Webb
Youth Rider of the Year:
Jakob McCoid
Most Improved:
PVH
Fountain of Youth:
Sicely
Next Champion:
Justin Bonita
R.O.Y: this is a tough one, Cody IMO one of the best all around riders in the country, sicely wins almost every race he enters, justin 2nd OA in the west and one of the top 2 or three riders in our distict, but stevie had to overcome a separated shoulder, broken wrist and a undisclosed injury (or a least a severe discomfort)that prevented him from riding clear creek.
MY VOTE: STEVIE BONITA
YOUTH RIDER:to me this is closer yet, jake dominated the youth division in the district, but if you factor in the big bike stuff and pure consitancy.
MY VOTE:Brandon Roberts
MOST IMPROVED: michael, by a wisker over brad
FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH: Super Sic,easy
NEXT CHAMP: PVH providing he gets the eye of the tiger and wears the american flag trunks I wore all this year,im not washing them
R.O.Y. Tough call! Until he tests positive for roids, I give the nod to Sicely. Top 10 overall almost every week, spanking punks half his age and winning another championship.
Youth: Brandon Roberts.
Most improved: Michael Brumit. Brad was close, but Michael won 2 championships. Paul, you were already pretty fast.Brandon, big step up this year.
Fountain of Youth: Barry Bonds, I mean John Sicely. Hook me up next time your at BALCO
Next Champ: Justin Bonita. Your time has come, now quit stalling your bike.
Good job to you all! Ride on!
Tuff descions to make here, these are all outstanding riders.
R.O.Y: Stevie Bonita this guy can climb off of the couch throw on some gear, tape his wrist, shoot down a michelob light and have a great race!
Youth rider of the Year: Brandon Roberts, 2 wins @ a GNCC race..
Most Improved: Michael Brumit (going to kick his dad’s butt pretty soon)
Fountain of Youth: Sicley (it’s the Crown)
Next Champ: Justin Bonita
2012 is going to have two new champions for the adult series, Brian Toline vet A and Jakob McCoid A 250, TEAM OFF THE COUCH RACING!!!!!!!!!
I agree with Marc, very tough to decide!!
Rider of the Year: Very tough for me all nominees are exceptional, but my vote goes to Steve Bonita who without any type of training schedule still can kick ass!
Youth Rider of the Year: Brandon Roberts (I have to vote for him, he is my son!) Love you Jake!!
Most Improved: I am going with Michael Brumit!
Fountain of Youth Award: John Sicely
Next Champion Award: Justin Bonita–His turn is coming!!
Hey Toline!! Should be stay on the couch racing…and if you did win a championship what manufacturer would it be on? I know your going to Fo thru at least a couple of new bikes this year, haven’t seen u on a kawasaki or a Yamaha yet
Rider of the Year:I must say all did a fantastic job,but my vote goes to my brother Robert. He remained constant and always brought it.Especially places like were he was not expected to do well.
Youth Rider:I’ve got to give that to Jakob McCoid.Jakob continues to show strength year in and year out.You can not take anything away from the others,as they all show signs of greatness.
Most Improved:In my opinion all are worthy of that award, but Brandon Roberts seemed to out front just a tad.
Fountain of Youth:First I’m kind of pissed off no one voted for me.That being said,I will cast my vote for John Sicely. He is the perfect example of The Fountain of Youth, winning yet another Sportman title.
Next Champion:Finally last but not least and this vote is for Paul Van Horsen. It would be so great to have CKR win Senior Expert Championship 4th year in a row.Now want to say don’t want to sell “Bad Ass” Jim Perriera short either.I see a future for Justin Bonita as over all champion.NOW,let’s talk about Brian,he will start out great, then little by little his wind will leave his sails and he will find his way back to the couch, with a Coors Lite cluched tightly in his hand. All kidding aside there is alot of talent and any one would make a great champion next year.
Hi Mark Hiles. I agree agree and appreciate your opinions.
But…. It’s Coors Light buddy!
Well as for the R.O.Y has to go to the corked bat swinging sammy sosa…..Opps meant Sicley
Youth: Brandon Roberts,He has shown vast improvement threw his trainning with Brian and his group.Definte
future champ in some class no dought.
Most Improved: That guy that rides that lighting fast blue rocket ship like it is running on John Sicleys juiced up sweat. Sorry meant to say Micheal brumit but
auto correct put that. Micheal did a good job this year and will be hell on wheels this year with the right mentoring from his now retired father.
Fountian of youth goes to John Sicley. And really Jimmy, Nick Simon he is asian and dont qualify they have youth on there side he is already older than M.B.
Next Champ:Justin Bonita he has his dads testicular fortitude and his talent has yet to come to full term.
And a major thanks to James T Perreira for allowing the spot on his ballot. As for OFF THE COUCH RACING I see the youngster making his way to the top very soon. And too big will get that jet ski championship soon.
